  • Demonstrators accuse US of whipping up turmoil

A number of people joined a demonstration outside the US Consulate in Central on Saturday, accusing Washington of instigating the current unrest in Hong Kong.

They demanded that the US, Britain and other Western powers stop "interfering" in Hong Kong affairs and insisted that Hong Kong people alone are responsible for resolving the turmoil.

"As we are Hong Hong people, we have the ability to solve our own problems. From now on, we strongly recommend England and the United States stop bothering with our business," a Mr Yeung said.

The demonstrators lamented that the protests over recent weeks have repeatedly led to violence, with the clashes between protesters and the police becoming more fierce.

Some handed letters to security staff outside the consulate urging Washington to stop "harming" the SAR.
