Health authorities said on Thursday daily coronavirus figures have risen slightly after the Mid-Autumn Festival, as the number of new cases surpassed the 8,000 mark.
There were 8,187 new Covid infections reported for the day, including 164 were imported.
Authorities also said more than 2,800 patients were being treated in public hospitals, with 49 said to be in critical condition. Ten are under intensive care.
Six more people with Covid, aged between 73 and 95, passed away.
