The chairwoman of the DAB, Starry Lee, said on Wednesday that she plans to meet Chief Executive Carrie Lam as well as Police Commissioner Stephen Lo to express her party's "unwavering" support for them.

The leader of the biggest pro-Beijing party made the statement after attending a meeting addressed by the director of the Hong Kong and Macau Affairs Office, Zhang Xiaoming.

As the extradition bill saga dragged on last month, some government allies had voiced criticism about the administration's handling of the issue. As protests gave way to frequent clashes, the government's inaction and police tactics were also called into question by some government supporters.

But after attending the Shenzhen meeting with Zhang, Lee made clear that her party will be fully backing Lam and the police.

Lee also said her party will be organising round table meetings with different sectors on this.

When asked if the DAB backs an independent probe into the extradition law saga, she said her party does not support this either. Such an investigation would affect the morale of the police, she said.
