Elaine Chik has won the Eastern District Council by-election in the Kai Hiu constituency with 2,268 votes, or just over half of the votes cast. She had been running on a joint DAB-FTU ticket.

Alice Ishigami Lee of Democratic Caring Hongkonger for DC came second with 1,302 votes and Enki Tan, who was running as an independent, came third with 707 votes.

The by-election was caused by the death in December of Lam Chiu-lin. She was a former member of the Liberal Party but left in 2011 and had been sitting as a member of the T-Party.

The Kai Hiu constituency is in the Siu Sai Wan area.

Turnout was just over 49 percent.
