Hong Kong's border control points are ready for the resumption of quarantine-free travel to the mainland, authorities say.
In a post on social media, customs officers say they are conducting drills and checking anti-epidemic equipment and facilities.
They say their preparations will ensure "normal momentum of cross-border activities in an orderly and safe manner”.
The mainland's National Health Commission has announced that from January 8 inbound travellers will no longer have to go into quarantine.
Passenger entry and exit at sea and land ports will gradually resume, while the outbound travel of mainlanders will be restored "in an orderly manner", the commission added.
