  • Court denies bail to Indian fugitive again

An Indian fugitive, who is wanted by Interpol, has again been denied bail at the Kowloon City Magistrates' Court.

Ramanjit Singh has been charged here for a robbery involving some 450 million yen in Tsim Sha Tsui last month.

A group of five people were taking two suitcases filled with money from a exchange in Chungking Mansions to a bank on Carnarvon Road when the alleged robbery occurred on February 9.

Tight security was imposed in the area around the court, with counter-terrorism officers backing up police as the 29-year-old was taken to the court from the Lai Chi Kok Reception Centre on Friday. Similar arrangements were also made when he appeared at the court last week.

Singh has sparked an international manhunt for allegedly conspiring to fund terrorism-related activities and masterminding a jailbreak in India in 2016.

He will make another court appearance next week to have his bail application reviewed.
