Prosecutors of a couple who allegedly abused and killed their five-year-old daughter two months ago said on Tuesday that they are still working on forensic tests of blood stains found at their home, and on other evidence.

This was revealed as the father, 26-year-old Chan Hoi-ping, and stepmother Wong Hiu-tung, 27, were brought to the Tuen Mun Magistracy for mention.

The magistrate adjourned the case to April 17 for prosecution to complete the tests.

The couple face a murder charge, and have been detained since they were arrested on January 6.

The girl, Chan Sui-lam, was rushed to hospital unconscious that morning, covered in both old and new wounds. She was certified dead upon arrival.
