  • Concern over schools' participation in TSA exams

The lawmaker representing the education sector Ip Kin-yuen said on Saturday that he was concerned that 90 percent of government primary schools have elected to make students sit the revamped Territory-wide System Assessment (TSA) exams.

He said this was because a survey by the Hong Kong Professional Teachers' Association has shown that most of the participating schools haven't consulted parents or teachers on the matter.

"Hong Kong PTU survey find out many schools have not consulted parents and teachers and then they apply for taking part in full-scale participation in TSA", Ip said.

"Why is that happening? So that is really worrying. The schools are making use of [their] administrative power to decide on the participation [and] the risk of over-drilling and pressure [on students] might persist", he added.
