The Privacy Commissioner, Stephen Wong, said on Friday that he had received more than 300 complaints and inquiries over the suspected circulation of personal details of government officials, lawmakers and police.
The practice is known as "doxing".
The telephone numbers and other personal details of the Chief Executive, Carrie Lam, security chief John Lee and other officials are believed to have been leaked online.
Wong said he's asked the online platform operators to delete the posts.
He warned that doxing may violate privacy laws and may constitute a crime.
Earlier this month, police arrested nine people over "doxxing" attacks, after the full Chinese and English names, identity card numbers and addresses of some police officers and their family members were allegedly posted online.
Some police groups have said that details of as many as 1,000 officers have been released online.
