The government on Friday urged the public to report any street flooding to the Drainage Services Department, after the Amber Rainstorm Warning was announced at 2 am. The thunderstorm warning had earlier been issued.

The Labour Department also warned employers, contractors, and employees to be aware of electric safety at work during the rainstorm.

The Observatory said a trough of low pressure was bringing thundery showers to the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea.
