Lam Hok-yin talks to RTHK's Jimmy Choi

The Hong Kong Observatory said on Monday that it is too early to say whether a tropical depression that was some 800 kilometres south of Hong Kong would further affect the city’s weather in the coming week.

Officials did say that people can expect a few rainy and cloudy days ahead.

The Observatory said the tropical depression over the South China Sea will move slowly northwards in the next two to three days.

Acting senior scientific officer Lam Hok-yin said the Observatory will continue to monitor the movement of the tropical depression, and see whether there is a need to issue the number one standby signal on Tuesday.

He told RTHK's Jimmy Choi that the city, which has been sweltering under a heatwave for the last two weeks, can expect a few showers in the coming days.
