  • Ching Ming wreath laid for Tiananmen victims

The Hong Kong Alliance In Support of Patriotic Democratic Movements of China has held a Ching Ming festival wreath-laying ceremony in front of the Tsim Sha Tsui clock tower. Members want to honour those who died in Tiananmen Square in 1989.

Albert Ho, the chairman of the Alliance, says calls for the end of one party rule will still figure in this year's June 4 candlelight vigil in Victoria Park, despite pro-Beijing figures saying it should not be allowed.

"Notwithstanding all these threats, we have never been moved," he said.

Ho said freedom of expression is so precious to Hong Kong that, without it, Hong Kong would no longer be the Hong Kong it has always been.
