The final section of the Central-Wanchai Bypass will open at 7am on Sunday, meaning motorists will be able to drive all the way from North Point to the Western Harbour Tunnel.
The government says the trip will take around 10 minutes if traffic is smooth.
The westbound carriageway to the Rumsey Street Flyover was the only part of the bypass not to open last month, and the arrangement led to some traffic congestion around Central.
A chief traffic engineer at the Transport Department, Leung Siu-kong, said 40,000 vehicles are expected to use the bypass on weekdays, and 30,000 during weekends.
"We estimate that most of the motorists travelling to the western district or Western Harbour Crossing ... will make use of the Central-Wanchai Bypass, as such the traffic condition along the existing trunk routes including Gloucester Road, Harcourt Road and Connaught Road Central will be improved," he said.
