  • CE warns of resolute action against law breaches

Chief Executive John Lee on Tuesday said people should act in accordance with the law, warning that police will take resolute action against any violations.

He made the comment ahead of this week's Executive Council meeting as he responded to a question on whether it is legal for people to peacefully mourn June 4 in public.

"Any activity that contradicts the law, of course the police will have to take action, and police will take action resolutely, particularly in regard to public order activities. So everybody should act in accordance with the law and think of what they do, so as to be ready to face the consequences," Lee said.

Security minister Chris Tang on Monday warned that police will arrest and prosecute those who take advantage of "a special occasion" to threaten national security.
