The government says Chief Executive Carrie Lam will meet the press at the Central Government Headquarters at 3pm on Saturday, and sources say she will announce her administration's decision to "suspend" controversial amendments to the Fugitive Offenders Ordinance.

Several principal officials and Executive Council members were seen entering Government House in the morning, and it's believed they were there to meet Lam to discuss the latest developments regarding the extradition bill.

Apart from executive councillors, it is understood that the CE has also briefed all pro-government lawmakers on the matter.

Reports say Lam met Vice Premier Han Zheng in Shenzhen on Friday night to discuss the political turmoil in Hong Kong regarding the bill.
