Cathay Pacific says it has warned staff that they can't support any "illegal" anti-extradition protests, violent actions or overly radical behaviour on social media - even out of work hours.
The airline says it's adopting a zero-tolerance approach in order to fulfil the the conditions recently imposed by Beijing's aviation regulator, which has barred its flights from mainland airspace if they carry staff who have taken part in the protests.
Cathay said every staff member now bears an unprecedented responsibly, as their actions would affect how others view the company.
Two senior Cathay executives, including CEO Rupert Hogg, have resigned amid the mainland's intervention.
Two pilots have also been fired over their involvement in the ongoing anti-government protests. A third pilot is also said to have left the company recently.
