Chief Executive Carrie Lam announced she will resume her duties on Monday, after taking several days off following a fall at her residence.
Chief Secretary John Lee has been acting in her capacity, after she fell from the stairs at Government House and fractured her right elbow almost a week ago.
"It'll take some time and hard work at physiotherapy for me to fully recover and live normally," she wrote in a social media post on Sunday.
The Chief Executive added that she's had the chance to walk around the Government House gardens more often during her time off.
"It reminded me that Government House has not held an open day for two years, and members of the public couldn't enjoy the blossoming rhododendrons up-close in this declared monument during spring," she said, adding that she's glad to see the successful return of the Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon after a two-year hiatus.
"I hope those who've not been vaccinated will get their shots soon to enable more of such large-scale events to take place, for cross-border personnel to be able to move around without the need for quarantine, and for people's lives to return to normal," she wrote.
