The Chief Executive’s Office has received death threats made against Carrie Lam over extradition law changes, sources have said.

It’s understood that Lam was told to withdraw the controversial bill within the next 24 hours or someone would kill members of her family.

Threats were also made against Justice secretary Teresa Cheng, the sources said.

This comes as the controversial bill is to go back to the full Legislative Council on Wednesday amid planned protests by an array of demonstrators, including political parties, students, teachers, labour unions and religious groups.

The Chief Executive and her administration have rejected calls to delay or withdraw the bill, saying it has to be passed as quickly as possible.
