  • Carrie Lam met by protesters at dragon boat race

The Chief Executive Carrie Lam was met by opponents of the government's extradition bill - as well as supporters of the legislation - when she officiated at a dragon boat race in Tuen Mun on Friday morning.

About 10 members of the League of Social Democrats called on her to step down over the extradition bill.

Separately, members of a group called "Safeguard HK, Support the Surrender of Fugitive Offenders Legislation" were also there - calling on the government to pass the bill to plug a loophole in the SAR's laws.

The controversial bill allows Hong Kong to surrender suspects to jurisdictions with which the city doesn't have an agreement, including the mainland.

It's expected to have its second reading at a Legislative Council meeting on June 12.
