Police have arrested a bus driver after his vehicle knocked down and killed an 82-year-old woman who was crossing the road in Shau Kei Wan.

The incident happened around 5pm on Tuesday, as the bus was heading down Aldrich Bay Road and turning onto Tung Hei Road.

The woman, who sustained head injuries, was rushed to Pamela Youde Nethersole Eastern Hospital in a conscious state but died about two-and-a-half hours later.

The 63-year-old driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death and has been detained.
