  • Booking begins for home vaccination scheme

Elderly and disabled people who are unvaccinated can book home inoculation services from Tuesday, and they could get a Covid-19 jab as early as next week.

Those who are aged 70 or above, or homebound, can register through a government website or the hotline 5688-5234.

Civil service minister Patrick Nip, who's in charge of the city’s vaccination drive, said officials will collect data on where these people live, and outreach teams will try to visit four to five districts every week to give jabs.

The plan is to finish administering the first dose in four weeks.

Nip noted that around 150,000 people aged 70 or above remain unvaccinated, and he hopes officials can locate these people and persuade them to get their jabs.

"If more people of this age group are vaccinated, that provides better protection for Hong Kong overall. That will be a massive help in controlling and even ending the epidemic situation here," he said on an RTHK radio programme.

Nip added that the Social Welfare Department, the Department of Health and the Hospital Authority will proactively contact elderly people they've been serving, to encourage them to get inoculated.
