Firefighters have removed a large yellow banner from Beacon Hill that calls on people to vote on this Sunday’s Legco by-elections.

The two-metre by ten-metre banner, which reads “reject disqualification, let’s vote” in Chinese, was spotted by members of the public on Wednesday night. However, authorities were unable to remove it because of the rainy conditions overnight and deferred the operation until Thursday morning.

The League of Social Democrats (LSD) hinted that it was behind the hanging of the banner, saying on its Facebook page that it wanted to do more to motivate people to head to polling stations on Sunday.
