  • 'Around 10pc of young children have had Covid jabs'

Secretary for the Civil Service, Ingrid Yeung, said on Sunday that around 10 percent of children aged between six months and three years have had their Covid jabs since it became available to them earlier this month.

She noted the government had implemented measures to facilitate the inoculation of younger children, including outreach vaccination services for childcare centres and kindergartens where ten or more kids are signed up for the jabs.

Yeung said she believes the vaccination rate about this age group will increase further, but stopped short of setting a target, saying the government’s goal is always to provide it for anyone suitable to get jabbed.

When asked whether the government will ask civil servants to provide proves of negative rapid antigen tests every day before attending work, Yeung said “relevant arrangements” will be made for government staff who are at higher infection risks or have to come in frequent contact with the public.
