The Housing Society announced on Tuesday that applicants for its Senior Citizen Residences Scheme will be able to view flats at its new Blissful Place project in Hung Hom from Friday.

The latest project on Lee Kung Street provides 312 flats – ranging from 235 to 403 square feet in size – for elderly people aged 60 or over.

They’re required to fork out a one-off contribution fee of between HK$1.2 million and HK$2.65 million – payable within one month, four months or one year.

The society’s sales and marketing general manager, Peter Or, said the arrangement is intended to provide maximum flexibility for successful applicants.

"We understand we have to cater for the different needs of the applicants. Some need more time to handle their own financial affairs, so they need more time to pay off their entry contribution," he said, adding that tenants are also required to pay a monthly management service fee of between HK$2,000 and HK$3,000 after they move in in the middle of this year.

The Blissful Place residence features an outdoor sky garden, as well as a clubhouse with leisure facilities and an indoor fitness area.

The society’s elderly services general manager, Carmen Ng, said the project also has an "integrated care link system" to provide emergency support to residents.

"Whenever the tenants are in need of emergency help, they can simply press a button within their flat from a mobile portable device. The signal will go to our system, so our care staff can offer instant help," she said.

There are now around 500 people on the waiting list for the society's Senior Citizen Residences Scheme. Similar projects are also underway in Fanling, Kwun Tong and Shau Kei Wan.
