Tech giant Apple on Friday said it is recalling some AC wall plug adapters designed for use primarily in Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Kingdom, because of a safety issue.

The firm said on its website that "in very rare cases, the affected Apple three-prong wall plug adapters may break and create a risk of electrical shock if touched."

The wall plug adapters concerned were shipped with Mac and certain iOS devices between 2003 and 2010, and were also included in the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit.

The recall does not affect any Apple USB power adapters.

Apple said it is aware of six incidents worldwide, and it is calling on customers to stop using the affected plug adapters.

The three-prong plug adapter in question, Apple said, is white, with no letters on the inside slot where it attaches to the main Apple power adapter.

The tech company said customers should visit its website for details about how to exchange the adapters for new ones.
