A 63-year-old man who has been charged with rioting in connection with the Yuen Long mob attack on July 21, 2019 was remanded in custody on Saturday following his appearance at the Shatin Magistracy.
The defendant, who is also facing a wounding charge, has been accused of rioting at the Yuen Long MTR station and attacking a man with a rattan stick two years ago.
The prosecution said the man had earlier left Hong Kong, and was arrested after he returned to the SAR on Thursday.
He did not apply for bail and will next appear at the Fanling Magistracy on August 19.
Dozens of people were injured in the rampage on the night in question, when men wearing white T-shirts indiscriminately attacked bystanders and passengers at the MTR station.
Police have so far arrested over 60 people, including some victims.
Last month, seven attackers were jailed for up to seven years, after they were convicted of wounding and rioting.
