Police said on Sunday that they are investigating a fatal traffic accident in Ngau Tau Kok in which a 52-year-old female pedestrian died.

They said that at about 0.43am on Sunday, a taxi driven by a 72-year-old man was travelling along Kai Fuk Road towards Kwun Tong.

They said that it reportedly knocked down the woman near the Kai Fuk Road footbridge.

Police said she was taken to United Christian Hospital and certified dead at 1.13am.

The taxi driver was arrested for dangerous driving causing death.

Police said they're continuing with their investigation.
