An elderly woman was on Wednesday fined HK1,000 for calling the management office of her housing estate 843 times in two days.

Kowloon City Court heard that the 71-year-old, who lives in Tin Ma Court in Wong Tai Sin, made the calls in October last year to complain about the management company’s performance and the poor attitude of some staff members.

The prosecution said she also shouted into the phone.

The woman pleaded guilty to a charge of making persistent telephone calls.

The magistrate told off the defendant for doing such a pointless thing, and the woman promised never to do it again.
