Government officials marked Constitution Day on Saturday by stressing the need for strengthened education about the Constitution and the Basic Law.

Writing on his blog, Chief Secretary John Lee said anti-China disruptors had been spreading false and misleading ideas about 'one country, two systems' in recent years, and the SAR government had to put things back on the right track.

He said the government would enhance training about the Constitution and Basic Law, particularly for civil servants, teachers and students.

Justice Secretary Teresa Cheng also wrote on her blog that enhanced education on the Constitution was needed so the public could grasp the essence of one country, two systems.

“We all need to grasp a proper understanding of the Constitution… Everyone in the country must treat the Constitution as the fundamental standard of conduct, and have a duty to uphold the sanctity of the Constitution and ensure its compliance,” she wrote.
