  • Security measures lead to long queues at airport

The new security set up implemented by the airport authorities led to long queues outside the airport in the morning as travellers negotiated new barriers and document checks.

The Airport Authority had said on Friday there will be extra measures, saying it had noted that there were messages on the internet by some protesters, urging people to go "shopping" at the airport to skirt the injunction order against protest outside the designated areas.

The authority statement had warned against people loitering at the airport without valid reason would violate the injunction and will be considered as contempt of court.

Passengers were reminded to arrive at the airport at least three hours before the flight departure, and reserve time to check.

The authority has said that those who may want to accompany passengers flying out or going to receive travellers coming in should not travel to the airport unless absolutely necessary.
