The Hospital Authority said in Saturday that they were conducting a contact tracing of people who visited a general medicine ward of Caritas Medical Centre after a doctor working there tested preliminary positive for Covid-19.

The authority said the doctor fell ill on Saturday morning and has been on duty at the hospital on the previous day.

One of his family member was confirmed of carrying the virus on Friday night.

A chief manager of the authority, Dr Sara Ho, said they're still doing contact-tracing of the case.

She said the doctor had worn face masks and maintaining good hand hygiene while he was at work.

"Although the doctor has contacts with patients at work, he has put on a surgical mask during work and was attentive to hand hygiene," Ho said.

Meanwhile a 81-year-old patient with chronic illness at Tuen Mun hospital has also been certified as a confirmed Covid case. He had gone to the A&E ward there and authorities there are now carrying out contact tracing.

Two people who were in the area and two cleaners who were not wearing proper protective gear are being treated as close contacts and will be be quarantined.
