  • Pro-govt group urges jail for Demosisto protesters

A group of pro-government supporters on Wednesday demanded that three Demosisto members who stormed the dais during a public Legco hearing on Saturday be punished with a jail term.

About two dozen people belonging to the group, New Millenarian, rallied outside Legco to protest against the disruption.

They accused Demosisto members of “creating trouble” and "acting violently" during the meeting over the proposed national anthem law.

"We need to bring these people to justice and put them in jail. That can act as a deterrent," said Wong Lai-yin, the vice-convenor of Millenarian.

"We will not tolerate their violence. Their actions deprived other speakers of their rights to express their opinion," she said.

Wong added that they supported the Legco Secretariat's decision to report the case to the police and urged the authorities to ban the trio from attending any Legco meetings in future.
