Police Fire Three Live Rounds At Suspected Thief

The police on Saturday said an officer opened fire three times in the early hours at a man who had tried to evade arrest in Kwai Chung.

They said the 27-year-old man was trying to escape by driving a car at high speed - after officers found him and another man trying to steal a car number plate.

The force added that the man had even tried to drive straight at the officer, who had to fire three live rounds to stop him.

It said they found knives, drugs, tools that can be used for burglaries, and two illegal number plates in his car afterwards.

Police said the man suffered injuries to his arm and ribs, but was conscious when he was sent to hospital.
