  • Online platform helps to feed Hong Kong's needy

An online platform funded by the government said it has helped distribute about 200 tonnes of food to thousands of needy people in Hong Kong over the past year.

The platform, called Food-Co connects the food industry with charities and helps restaurants or companies who want to donate their surplus food to those in need.

It's run by the charity St. James Settlement and bankrolled by the Social Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development Fund. Its chairman, Professor Stephen Cheung, said more resources could be put into the app to widen its use, given the encouraging results in reducing the food waste.
