Sources say the Housing Society aims to begin construction of subsidised homes at an Anderson Road site next year and hopes to put the flats on the market in 2022.

The 1.75-hectare plot overlooks the harbour, and is one of seven sites in the area that were previously earmarked for private flats.

The Housing Society is planning to build six blocks on the site that overlooks much of Kowloon and Hong Kong Island, providing 1,400 subsidised flats for sale.

Sources said the housing body wants to start work on the site next year.

It will also develop two other sites next to the harbour-view plot, generating almost 1,400 homes. Some of them are expected to be completed around 2022.

The Housing Authority is aiming to finish four other projects, including one harbour-view site, in the same area in phases from 2024. They will provide nearly 4,000 units.

Last June, Chief Executive Carrie Lam decided to make use of the seven sites for subsidised housing, instead of private flats.
