The Airport Authority said on Thursday that its contractor finished installing two new aviation fuel pipelines in March for the airport's third runway project and they will start operating in June.

The two 5.2 kilometre-long pipelines, which connect the airport island and a fuel receiving facility at Sha Chau, will replace the current pipelines to supply fuel for aircraft.

Tommy Leung, the deputy director of the authority's Third Runway Project Management, said the construction of the new pipelines had no impact on the environment.
