Tech Park Meeting Held

Secretary for Innovation & Technology Alfred Sit today presided over the eighth meeting of the Joint Task Force on the Development of the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Park in the Loop.

He co-chaired the meeting via video conferencing with Shenzhen Vice Mayor Ai Xuefeng.

Both sides received a briefing on the work progress by the Hong Kong-Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Park, while representatives from the Shenzhen Government introduced the latest development of the Shenzhen Innovation & Technology Zone.

They were also updated on the work progress of establishing one zone, two parks in the Shenzhen/Hong Kong Innovation & Technology Co-operation Zone, and discussed the developments and co-operation of the two I&T parks.

Mr Sit noted that the Outline of the 14th Five-Year Plan for National Economic & Social Development of the People's Republic of China & the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035, passed in March this year, indicates clear support for Hong Kong’s development into an international I&T hub.

The Shenzhen-Hong Kong Loop has also been included as one of the four major platforms of co-operation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Mr Sit noted that all these highlight the importance the central government attaches to the co-operation zone.

To attract more talent and enterprises to the co-operation zone, both sides will continue to study the formulation of joint policy, explore the provision of facilitation and supportive measures, and join hands to promote the co-operation zone, he added.
