Staff Issue Under RTHKs Purview

The staff affairs of Radio Television Hong Kong (RTHK) are matters for the department to handle.
Secretary for Commerce & Economic Development Edward Yau made the statement when asked by reporters today about the probation extension for RTHK journalist Nabela Qoser.
Mr Yau said it would be inappropriate for him to comment on the matter.
“I think what you are talking about is a staff matter that falls within a government department.
“Under the existing arrangement, it is a matter for the department to handle, as all government departments have their policy mechanism to establish performance, promotion and other staffing matters.”
