The HKSAR government says the latest round of its inflation-linked iBonds has been nearly four times oversubscribed. The final issue amount will now be increased to HK$15 billion from HK$10 billion.

A government spokesperson said around 460,000 people had applied for the 3-year bonds, which have a minimum interest rate of 2 percent.

Total subscriptions came in at HK$38.9 billion or 70 percent more than the previous round in 2016.

The bonds, which had a minimum subscription amount of HK$10,000, will be issued on November 16.
