Hong Kong stocks fell on Thursday, ending a four-day rally, as traders cashed in gains while they were also nervously watching events in the Middle East after Donald Trump threatened a military strike in Syria.

The Hang Seng Index slipped 0.2 percent, to 30,831.

On the mainland, the Shanghai Composite Index lost 0.9 percent, to 3,180 while the Shenzhen Composite Index fell 0.6 percent, to 1,840.

Most other Asian markets fell as nervous traders cashed in after the recent gains made by the equities.

In Tokyo, the benchmark Nikkei 225 index slipped 0.1 percent, to 21,660.

Sydney fell 0.2 percent and Singapore shed 0.3 percent, while Seoul, Wellington, Taipei and Jakarta were also lower. (AFP)
