Hong Kong stocks rallied more than two percent in Wednesday morning trade, as US President Donald Trump fuelled trade hopes after saying he and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, would discuss their tariffs row at the G20 summit in Osaka next week.

The Hang Seng Index jumped 2.37 percent to 28,150 by the break.

Across the border, the Shanghai Composite Index put on 1.5 percent at 2,933, while the Shenzhen Composite Index gained 2 percent at 9,002. (AFP)
