Hong Kong stocks ended the morning session higher on Tuesday, extending a rally after another strong lead from Wall Street, though early gains were pared by profit-taking.

The Hang Seng Index rose 0.1 percent, to 31,544.

On the mainland, the Shanghai Composite Index was down 0.9 percent, to 3,299 while the Shenzhen Composite Index was down 0.2 percent, to 1,811.

Tokyo stocks led another rally across Asian markets as investors took up the baton from a strong Wall Street performance,

Sydney was up 0.6 percent, Singapore rose 0.3 percent, Seoul was 0.5 percent higher and Taipei gained 0.4 percent. (AFP)
