• NPC endorses four new vice premiers

The National People's Congress (NPC) on Monday endorsed four new vice premiers, including President Xi Jinping's right hand man Liu He who is to be in charge of economic policies and financial issues.

Former Shanghai mayor Han Zheng, former Tianjin party boss Sun Chunlan, and former Guangdong chief Hu Chunhua have also been given the vice premier role, while Foreign Minister Wang Yi has been made a state councillor.

Meanwhile, General Wei Fenghe, a former strategic missile force chief, has been named defence minister.

Fu Zhenghua, deputy minister of public security, has now been appointed as justice chief.
