A court has denied bail to a 22-year-old man accused of setting a national flag on fire in Tung Chung last Sunday.

Wong Cheuk-lai is charged with conspiracy to desecrate the flag, criminal damage and arson.

He appeared at Kowloon City Magistracy on Saturday morning.

Wong allegedly took the flag from Tung Chung Swimming Pool on a day that saw crowds of anti-extradition bill protesters flocking to Lantau, paralysing transports links between the airport and the city.

He is also accused of damaging CCTV in the area.

The case was adjourned to November 15.
