The mainland reported 2,604 new Covid-19 infections on August 13, of which 684 were symptomatic and 1,920 were asymptomatic, the National Health Commission said on Sunday.

Among them were 623 locally-transmitted and 1,844 local asymptomatic infections, for a total of 2,467.

Hainan Province accounted for 494 of the 623 locally-transmitted cases and 846 of the 1,844 asymptomatic infections.

A day earlier there were 2,144 new cases, comprising 704 symptomatic and 1,440 asymptomatic infections, which the mainland counts separately.

There were no new deaths, same as a day earlier, keeping the nation's fatalities at 5,226.

As of August 13, the mainland had confirmed 234,901 cases with symptoms. (Xinhua/Reuters)
