The death toll from a landslide that hit Bijie City in Guizhou province on Monday has climbed to 14, Xinhua News Agency quoted local authorities as saying.

The landslide took place at a construction site at around 7pm on Monday, Xinhua said.

As of 2.05pm on Tuesday, a total of 17 people had been found, of whom 14 were confirmed dead while three others were undergoing treatment in hospital.

The three injured were in a stable condition, according to the municipal government.

Rescue work had been completed and the cause of the accident was still under investigation, Xinhua said.
