Shanghai recorded 21,582 new asymptomatic coronavirus cases and 3,238 new symptomatic cases on Saturday, health authorities said on Sunday.

The number of asymptomatic cases was up from 19,923 a day earlier, while the number of symptomatic cases fell from the record high of 3,590.

Overall, the mainland reported 26,016 new local cases on Saturday, of which 3,504 were symptomatic, the National Health Commission said.

That compares with 24,791 cases, including 3,896 symptomatic cases, a day earlier.
