Elderly residents were evacuated from a care home in Yuen Long late on Tuesday, reportedly after a woman resident tested preliminary positive for Covid-19.
Footage from the scene showed health workers in protective gear and masks helping residents in pyjamas into minibuses at about 10pm. Some of them were placed on stretchers and wheelchairs and put into ambulances.
A 71-year-old resident of the home was admitted to Pok Oi Hospital on Tuesday with suspected Covid-19. It's understood that an initial test came back positive.
The Centre for Health Protection has yet to confirm any details of the evacuation at the Yuen Long Home for the Elderly.
Sources at the scene said the residents were to be taken care of at the Asia-World Expo centre on Lantau, part of which has been converted for use as a Covid-19 ward.
