The government announced on Thursday it's extending work-from-home arrangements for civil servants for another week until August 16, saying the Covid-19 situation remains severe.

A government spokesperson said that those providing emergency and essential public services will continue to work in offices, and the government will closely monitor the situation and review its arrangements.

The spokesperson again urged employers of private organisations to allow their staff to work from home in order to reduce the flow of people and the amount of social contact.

The news comes as Hong Kong continues to be battered by a third wave of Covid-19 infections.
