Police said on Wednesday that they had arrested a 43-year-old woman on suspicion of arson, over a fire which left her husband in intensive care.

The force said the injured man had second-degree burns to about ten percent of his body and was unconscious.

Police said a preliminary investigation showed the fire was started in the couple’s bedroom at their Lai King Estate home at around 3am on Wednesday. The blaze was put out around an hour later.

More than 80 people had to be evacuated from their homes due to the fire. Six received medical treatment, including the woman's mother-in-law.
